Sleeping "BABIES"

I'm not sure what I look forward to the most...bedtime and the rituals and routines that go along with that; reading stories, prayers, lots of hugs and kisses, singing...or wake-up time; groggy voices, lots of snuggles, crazy sheet prints all over their faces, sometimes a "grumpus" attitude, as we like to call it. Those two moments, as quickly as they come and go each day and as redundant as they may seem, are two of my favorite moments of each day. Knowing that what I say to them and leave them with at night is what they will think of as they fall asleep. Much the same, how I greet them and show them love when they first get up is often what creates the mood of the day. Priceless moments!!

But then there are those silent moments at night when we get to watch them sleep...the twists and turns their bodies make, the noises, their peaceful breathing patterns, sometimes even the conversations Paige has in her dreams OUT LOUD!! Just watching and realizing how quickly our days are flying by us.
I remember countless hours of watching and holding them as infants feeling like it was the best moment EVER...each time I saw them sleep. Every little noise and movement required attention. I thought that feeling would pass. That amazement of creation and how God brought them to our family. That sense of total peace and contentment. The wonder of what the next day would bring. Although we have been doing this sleeping observation now for over 4 years, it is still one of the most magical and touching moments of my day!!! No matter how old they are, they will always be our babies!!!
