STOP THE CLOCK

I don't think I differ from most mothers. Lately, I have been telling Mike that I love the ages of our kids and I would just like the clock to stop right here. I have said it a lot in the past 4.5 years...it seems each stage is always my favorite! Nathan's 2nd Birthday is quickly approaching and I don't want to admit that another huge milestone is around the corner. So much so that after I checked on the little ones last night I went to Mike with a great idea. I told him that we should put Paige back into the crib, and Nate can go in the Pack and Play. He, like most of you I'm sure would do, looked at me as if I were crazy. Then I explained...I figure if certain fish can only grow as big as their tank allows them, maybe our kids will only grow as big as their bed allows them. He agreed with the plan and we will make the arrangements soon.
Totally kidding, but how I do want to bottle up who they are right now! Like my son who says thank you EVERY time someone gives him something. It never fails...hand him a cup..."da-doo, Mama!"...hand him a banana peel..."da-doo, Dada!" He is so darn sweet, yet full of spunk and spirit as he chucks a toy across the living room just for the reaction. Or Paige, who saves every item ever given to her and has a special place in her room for everything! We cleaned it today...WOW! She knows where it all came from and why she wants it, so don't try to get rid of it. I look forward to milestones and seeing how they will grow, change and learn...really I do! But I also know that it goes SO fast and don't want to miss these simple days...before school, before drama with friends, before they are too cool to hold my hand in public, before eating in front of the TV is more exciting than eating together.

We have had a fun week! We babysat our neighbors dog for two nights...
As nervous as I was about Tinkerbell's size compared to my son's, everyone did very well! Paige and Nathan LOVED this little dog and were so gentle and loving. It was a lot of fun, but we're not ready to add one of our own to the mix quite yet!
We took a family trip to the aquarium (possibly why I've been making a lot of analogies to fish this week?). I love Paige's face here as she admires her perfect match!
The kids loved going through the tunnel and watching the fish swim all around us.
Daddy took this picture while Paige and I went "in" one of the tanks, but no fish cooperated for the shot!
I have SO enjoyed having Paige home every day these past two weeks! We spent the day together yesterday for one last hurrah! But, she is ready to go back to school...almost giddy! And we are all ready to return to a sense of normalcy and routine...we thrive on it! It looks almost official that Mike will start a new job on Monday, 1/12...I say almost because at this point I am skeptical of man's word! So as much as my heart often wants the clock to stop a while, it won't. Instead, we enjoy every minute together and EMBRACE what the next day has in store.

I think of the holding the hands thing every times Jordan reaches for my hand when we are walking through a store or something. I told Micah, "Someday, I will miss holding a little boy's hand." To which Micah replied, "You can always hold mine." :) So that made me feel a lot better! :)
