In order to explain, I have to start with last night. My brother-in-law, Damon, received 6 free tickets to "Le Grande Cirque" last night. It is an amazing show of acrobatic feats and amazing contortions that no human body should be capable of. The show started at 8, which is normally when both children are asleep, but we decided it was worth the late night. Mike's folks stayed with Nathan while Mike, Paige and myself went to the show with Damon and Emma.
They did not allow us to take pictures once we were inside the show, which became most disappointing when the lead "jester" came and pulled Michael on stage to dance with him. What a sight!!! Mike was instructed how to dance and had to perform for cheers from the audience. Best part of the show!!
Needless to say, when we arrived home after 10PM with a sleeping child, I was not optimistic about making it to school on time today. When she was still sleeping at 8:45 (arrival time for school), we decided to keep her home.
We spent much of the morning playing "hide-n-seek," a new favorite of Nathan's! He even tries to count now...

TOO CUTE!!!!!
After a short rest time, we packed up and headed to the ocean! Yes...the date on this post is accurate. It is DECEMBER 9 and we went to the ocean!! It had to be high 60's today...gorgeous!!
There were not many people down there today, except for the surfers!! Both of the kids were running around looking for shells and loving the fresh air! Nothing like feeling the heat of the sun while listening to the crash of the waves and the laughter of my kids!
After his initial cautions of the sand and concerns of dirty hands, Nate got excited about it today! Eventually, he was jumping in it, digging in it and...our favorite activity lately...throwing it everywhere!!!
So, although I do not endorse skipping school as a practice, I was very glad we opted for it today! Sometimes we all just need a break, right...even from preschool!! Tomorrow...we head to the grocery store to stock up on all the cookie ingredients necessary to re-create the Holiday baking traditions my Aunt Joyce and my mom instilled in me long ago!!! I can almost smell them now!!

oh, that's hilarious that mike got pulled out! you're a good, fun mom to take her even though it was late. and...yes, even though i'm missing snow right now (and will hopefully get some this weekend!), it's nice to have the beach when everyone up north is complaining!
