Meet our new finned friend, GOLDIE!

Tricked ya, didn't I? You thought you would be seeing a goldfish, huh? That's what happens when you let a 4-year-old name a fish, I guess. Paige has been begging for a fish for months. It wasn't that we were opposed to the idea, just not ready to indulge her. Until Mothers Day, that is. Happy Mothers Day to me...Paige got a fish! We opted for a Beta because you can only have one (Amanda, I remembered that hard lesson from our attempt at a fish tank in college), and it was $10 for everything we needed. So far, so good! It's still alive! I was somewhat concerned about Nathan...he is all boy.

In actuality, he hasn't paid her much attention. Goldie lives in Paige's bedroom and Nathan has learned it isn't really worth the adventure to go in there. I'm sure he'll make me eat my words at some point. Really I'm just hoping the thing doesn't explode from eating too much...we have hidden the fish food!

We aren't allowed to have a FURRY friend in our rental house, so we settled for a FINNED one instead. Paige LOVES Goldie...as evidenced by her attempt to kiss her through the tank above. It's a nice happy medium for our family right now!

Life with more than one - you have to get creative! Jordan has ridden many times on the front of my jogging stroller! Love it!
Please let Paige know that I have finned friends also!
I love the picture of the three of you.
Kaitlyn had a goldfish named Goldie. She got it last June, from her dance teacher after the recital. She was with us for several months but went to fishy heaven in Oct. Poor little Kaitlyn was heartsick when she went to feed her one morning and she was belly up. But Daddy made a little casket and they buried her in the back yard. Every once in a while she goes back there to talk to Goldie. Hope your Goldie brings as much joy once the novelty wears off.
