My heart melted right out of my body last night!! (Stick with me through the blurry pictures...not sure what happened with my camera, but these are too precious not to share!) It started with a conversation about what we will do for Jesus' birthday. Paige knows we do birthdays up in our family, so we made a plan for how we will celebrate. What followed was a live re-enactment of the nativity scene. It started with..."Mama, we need to have a pretend Baby Jesus in our house." This lead to blankets for swaddling, and a special manger to put him in...
Then the search began for the perfect animals to welcome him...
The entire time she is doing this, she is talking about parts of the Christmas story, like the star that lead the wise men to Jesus, the stable where he was born, the presents people brought. I realized that little by little, she is getting the importance of Christmas! Obviously there are parts too amazing for her 4 year old mind and heart to grasp, yet she is soaking it all in!
When all was said and done, she insisted that Baby Jesus sleep with her so he wouldn't get lonely in his manger! And, yes...she is wearing her Easter dress from April...ALL GIRL!!!!
