The miracle of band-aids!

What is it about kids and band-aids? I don't truly understand, yet I can relate. I remember (or maybe it is just the never ending stories of my parents and the pile of pictures as proof) LOVING band-aids as a kid. I always had at least one somewhere on my body. I believe I was cheated! I only had those ugly brownish kind...nothing like the 100+ variety of fashion band-aids they now have today. Whatever it is about them, Paige has joined in on the passion. To simply state she is a Drama Queen would be an understatement. We often call her "DQ" in our home. Nothing goes on without a flair of drama! Imagine when true tragedy hits! It would be rare to see my daughter with less than 2 band-aids on any given day. The real horror comes at bathtime. She has learned that there are NO band-aids in the tub, which creates a whole new world of drama! As soon as the word "bath" is mentioned, she immediately grabs the part of her body covered with band-aids and says, "but don't take off my band-aids!!!" To which I always have the same response, and she knows it! Thankfully, she is starting to have a preference for the plain old brownish band-aids rather than the highly priced DORA or Princess ones we have been buying.
Anyway...it amazes me that something so simple and ugly can create such a peace and happiness in a child! Whether she is bleeding or simply imagining an injury, those dumb band-aids put a smile on her face instantly! Sometimes I think, as adults, we need to find the simplicity of band-aids in our own worlds. We often look at our daily life and think things are rough...and sometimes they are! We hope for some major miracle to take away the pain, when sometimes a small ugly band-aid could make a big difference.

I have to admit, when Jordan had his first injury, I looked at the Spiderman bandaids! Thought it would look so cute, but then reality set in. Bandaids or milk... So I passed on the cool bandaids, at least until he knows the difference!
